Acting on a complaint filed by one Wahengbam Joykumar of Huikap Mayai Leikai, the State Chief Information Commissioner RK Angousana has directed State Public Information the Officer, Department of Home to provide information about the total number of Magisterial Inquiries instituted by the Government of Manipur since 1980 till March 2007 with their names and particulars as sought by the complainant under the Right to Information Act.
The CIC also directed the SPIO to furnish the number of reports of the Magisterial Inquiries submitted to the Government of Manipur since 1980 till March 2007.The SPIO has also been intimated to submit a show cause within 15 days as to why the penalty as prescribed under Section 20 of the RTI Act which includes a maximum fine of Rs 25000 should not be imposed on him for his failure to furnish the information within the time specified under sub-section (I) of Section 7, without any reasonable cause.
