Drugs shortage derails de-addiction drive

Imphal, May 03: Ever since the drug de-addiction centre of the State Government was inaugurated at Moreh, not a single doctor has been posted at the centre besides lack of any drug used in de-addiction treatment.

One 'Care Me Group' constituted by about 300 drug abusers of Moreh observed that even as many drug abusers are determined to give up the drugs, not a single initiative has been taken up by the State Government to rehabilitate and wean them away from this disastrous habit.

It further noted many HIV/AIDS related NGOs are not working properly in Moreh.

A memorandum detailing the plight of these drug abusers was submitted by Care Me Groups to MO in charge of Moreh Hospital Dr Mani against which he assured to help redress the plight in association with officials concerned.
