Imphal, April 01:
Claiming responsibility for the act of arson in the past 24 hours the Meetei Eron Eyek Loinasinlon Apunba Lup (MEELAL) called upon the transport operators and owners to extend cooperation instead of attempting to violate the economic blockade.
Asserting that the ongoing movement is in consonance with the desires and aspirations of the public the Meetei Mayek script agitation spearhead said rather than prevail upon MEELAL to call off its agitation highlighting upon the State Government for considerate approach to the issue would be more appropriate as pressurising the State authorities to comprehend the significance of the issue will be more positive.
Claiming that determined MEELAL volunteers had confiscated keys and documents of six Tata trucks so far and owing responsibility of set ablaze some vehicles it said due to consideration to minimise private property losses no substantial damage had been caused to the iron scrap loaded truck at Mantripukhri yesterday evening.
