The Sainik School Goalpara, Assam Old Boys� Association has conveyed its heartiest congratulation to Konsam Himalay Singh of Thoubal Charangpat on the State native recently promoted to the rank of brigadier in the Indian Army.
Born to Ibopishak Singh and (L) Noyonsakhi Devi, Himalay enrolled into the National Defence Academy after completing 11th standard from the Goalpara institute in 1978 and was commissioned to the 2nd Rajput Regiment as a Second Lieutenant.
During the successful Kargil campaign Himalay commanded the 27 Rajput for which he was conferred with the Yudh Seva Medal.
Among other achievements in his illustrious career as an officer, Himalay has won Chief of Army Staff commendation thrice in addition to being a keen adventure lover, informed an Association statement.
Dr Mangala, currently serving as Chief Medical Officer of CGHS, Delhi, is the life companion of Himalay, and mother of the couple�s two daughter.
