To commemorate 175th raising day celebrations of the Assam Rifles, 46 AR of 27 Sector organised a medical camp at Tulaphai village near Churachandpur town during which medical staff of the AR unit catered to the medical requirement of 330 patients from Tulaphai as well as nearby villages, said a PRO/IGAR (S) release.
Apart from diagnosing the patients medicines were also provided, the release informed.
In another AR endeavour, a drawing and painting competition was organised by 33 AR of 27 Sector in the areas of Thanga, Moirang Khunou, Kumbi and Wangoo-Sagang on February 23. Informing that the event was conducted in connection with the AR's 175th anniversary, a release said 500 young boys and girls took part in the competition with the unit Commandant handing over the prizes.
Moreover, a football match aimed as scouting talented players was held between teams of 27 Sector and Churachandpur XI on February 22 at Peace Ground, CCpur.
The match marked the inauguration of the month-long festivities to be held in the district till march 24 to commemorate the AR's raising day celebrations.
Commandant 46 AR Col Sarvesh Sharma presided over the ceremony, the release informed.
In yet another event to mark the AR anniversary Commandant 17 Assam Rifles flagged off a national integration Padyatra from Awontong of Ukhrul town on February 25. Large number of people from Salvasa, Katihar, Jalpaiguri, Jowai, Diphu and all districts of manipur as well as Ukhrul locals participated at the Padyatra which culminated at Dumpri Junction of Ukhrul town.
The idea behind organising the event was to spread the message of national integration in Manipur, said a release while adding that the ongoing national integration camp is being organised under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt of India with the collaboration of nehru Yuva Kendra, Ukhrul and 10 Sector Assam Rifles.
