A short term course on modeling hydrological system which would go on till June 22 under the aegis of Manipur Science and Technology Council has begun from today.
The inaugural function of the training programme being conducted with finance assistance from ESS Vision, Dept of Science and Technology, Govt of India under the was held at the Senate Hall of Manipur University.
Vice Chancellor of Manipur University Prof C Amuba Singh, Commissioner of Science and Technology, Govt of Manipur S Budhachandra Singh and former Director of Central Ground Water Board Dr SP Sinha Ray were respectively chief guest, president and guest of honour of the inaugural function.
Speaking at the occasion, Prof Amuba pointed out that there is water crisis even in MU campus.
Apart from its shortage, the water being provided is not treated, he said.
Even if Manipur is a place where rain water is available in plenty, there has been no arrangement for harvesting the rainfall, thereby leading to frequent water crisis, he said.
