Imphal, February 21: Expressing shock over the February 19 incident at RIMS Hospital wherein doctors, hospital staffs and security personnel were targeted by a mob, post graduate students, house officers and Internees of RIMS urged for sanity besides appealing to �all right minded citizens to condemn such barbaric acts committed within the premises of a place where many lives are being saved�.

In a joint statement , the RIMS� PG students and staffs/officials recalled that since its inception as a medical institute in the early 70s essential health services are being provided selflessly by the medical personnel and attributed such humane service to confidence reposed by the public.

Acknowledging sentiment of the bereaved family members, the statement however expressed shock to the violent reaction by the mob and opined that such action are uncalled for in a place like hospital.

At this juncture we are traumatised and scared to resume our normal duty in view of the prevailing hostile condition, it added.
