Fast unto death stir continues, 67 arrested

Imphal, Sep 03: In continuation of the fast unto death stir launched by the All Manipur Government Aided College Teachers' Association (AMGACTA) since August 28, another 19 teachers of the third batch of the agitators were arrested by police today.

Till date, 67 aided college teachers have been taken into police custody, informed a press release issued by AMGACTA.

The third phase of agitators arrested today were on fast unto death stir since 1:30 pm yesterday at Sagolband bus parking.

It further asserted that such intimidating activities would not be able to deter the aided college teachers from pursuing their demands.

AMGACTA would continue with their stir in various forms until their justified demands are met, said the release.

It disclosed that the aided college teachers have made all preparations to launch the fourth phase of the fast unto death stir.

It further questioned all questioned all concerned if it would be possible to bring quality education in the State when the State Government remains indifferent to the plight of the aided college students despite the prolonged stir.
