Imphal, April 17: Apprehension has gripped the people of Thawai Kuki village in Ukhrul district after the security cover (2nd IRB) was withdrawn from the village today.

Members of the Thawai Kuki Village Authority today informed The Sangai Express that the security personnel were withdrawn without any prior information.

Even fervent appeals from the women folk not to leave cut no ice as an order to vacate the village had already been issued, they said.

Security was provided from December 23 last year after a quit notice was served on the villagers to leave the village before Christmas (December 25).When The Sangai Express contacted a top ranking police official, he confirmed that the security personnel have been removed to be relocated to Kangpokpi.
