Imphal, September 25: After more than 19 years, necessary ground works for holding the election of the District Councils in the hill districts within the current year have been taken up.

According to information received by the press, an Officer Committee led by the Chief Secretary as the Chairman has already started collecting the required information and discussion is already underway for revising the electoral roll and using EVMs in the election to the District Councils.

It is said a total expenditure of around Rs 2 crores would be needed for the election.

There has been no election to the ADC for many years.
