Imphal, August 22: With the AICC yet to fix the date for election of MPCC president, there is no election fever or formation of groups within the Congress party.

This was stated by MPCC treasurer Achouba who is currently at Delhi with MPCC president Gaikhangam.

Even as the tenure of Gaikhangam as MPCC president expires on September 10, there has been no official intimation to conduct polls for election of the next MPCC president till date.

Talking to The Sangai Express, Achouba said that before elections of State party presidents are held, due notifications should be issued at least one month in advance.

With the bigger task of Parliamentary elections facing the party, organisational elections of the party may be deferred, he said.

As in the previous years, it is likely that the existing party president would continue to look after the affairs of the party, confided Achouba.
