Imphal, Jun 22: Imphal East District Police Commandos have apprehended two activists of the proscribed PULF outfit during search operation conducted at different parts of the district yesterday.

According to a statement issued by Imphal East SP L Kailun, at about 4.20 pm, a team of police commandos conducted cordon and search operation at Hatta and arrested one PULF activist identified as Md Tomba (38) s/o late Md Sattar of Irong Mathak Leikai.

On his preliminary interrogation, the arrestee disclosed that he joined the outfit in 2005 through one self styled chairman of the outfit identified as Md Azad of Irong and he is now working as group commander under Md Azad.

The SP further informed that at around 5.30 pm, a team of police commandos also conducted cordon and search operation at Paona Bazar and arrested another activist of the outfit identified as Md Abdul Kadir (46) s/o Md Manique of Urup Litan Makhong from in front of Chamber of Commerce.

On preliminary interrogation, Kadir disclosed that he joined the outfit in 2002.
