Imphal, February 17: All Rongmei Development Committee (ARDC), Jiribam has questioned the accountability of All Jiribam Tribal Union (AJTU) to the tribal populace of Jiribam.

Coming down heavily on AJTU, chairman of ARDC P Nembot in a statement said Union is comprised of some opportunists who are enjoying at the cost of poor tribal people.

He charged that for the last 20 years, the same old members have been occupying their hot seats of the Union without any selection or election and keeping the people in the dark.

He demanded to know whether the Union is mandated by the people and to explain its terms and tenure.

He further demanded to know where all the funds withdrawn from the office of the TD for the welfare of the downtrodden people have gone.

Nembot also challenged the Union to come out with truth and face the people.

While appealing to the tribal community to abolish the Union which he alleged has become a loot organisation, Nembot said categorically � people cannot be fooled any more by these crooks�.
