Imphal, May 15: With the deadline for filing of nomination papers to contest election of the Imphal Municipal Council, slated to be held on May 31, over by 3 pm today, 111 aspiring candidates including independents have filed their nominations.

Tomorrow, the scrutiny of the nomination papers would be done at offices of Returning Officers concerned.

Out of 27 wards where elections would be held, 20 are in Imphal West district and the remaining in Imphal East.

in Imphal West, 78 candidates are in the fray with 33 in the 7 wards of Imphal East.
