Imphal, July 02: Strongly protesting the alleged favouritism of the Rural Development Minister while awarding contract works under the PMGSY for ten packages in Senapati district, the Senapati District Contractors' Association, has decided to impose a 48 hour bandh on the National Highway from the midnight of July 6 till midnight of July 8.In a statement, the contractors alleged that out of the ten packages meant for the district, eight works were allotted to non local contractors.

Demanding the removal of the Minister concerned, the contractors alleged that the works were awarded in violation of all norms and guidelines.

Punishment of the officials concerned was also demanded.

The bandh will however be relaxed for essential services.
