Imphal, Aug 01: Noting that the State Government has bowed down to consistent attempts to mislead and divide the people, specially the indigenous and tribal people of Manipur and Mizoram since a decade back in order to sway public opinion and influence the political decision makers, bureaucrats, district officials and some academicians so that it can gather support through dishonest and undemocratic means, the Action Committee Against Tipaimukh Project (ACTIP) has asked the Chief Minister if he is aware of the observations and comments of NEEPCO and Central Electricity Authority, Public Investment Board as disclosed by Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on the floor of the last session of Parliament on May 12 this year about Tipaimukh dam.

A statement issued by ACTIP asserted that the Chief Minister of Manipur is unaware of the possible impacts and consequences of the Tipaimukh dam.

It also reminded that the Chief Minister himself had said, "If the Tipaimukh Project is economically not viable why should we allow to construct the dam".
