Imphal, June 20 2009: Young talent awards for the year 2007-08 and 2008-09 have been conferred to selected young artistes of the state at the inaugural function of the folk song (khunung eshei) and pena festival organized by the state art and culture department in collaboration with the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Kolkata.

The awardees were Laishram Robindro (pung), RK Anawani (cane and bamboo), Takhellambam Dharmen (pung), Chongdam Bemcha Chanu (cane and bamboo) and Yengkhom Dinesh (thang-ta).

Each award consisted of Rs 10,000 in cash and a citation.

The function was graced by commissioner of art and culture, P Bhorot and musicologist, Laishram Birendrakumar as respective chief guest and president.
