Imphal, April 26: A scheme of community farming of passion fruit and turmeric was launched today by 2 AR under the aegis of HQs 27 Sector of Red Shield Division at Munpi, Khojim, Aina and Santing along NH 150.A PIB (DW) statement informed that Col RS Bains of 2 AR and other AR officers attended the inauguration programme.

The farms would be wholly looked after by women self help groups of the villages.

The response of the villagers to this pilot project has been overwhelming for which the entire cost of providing training to farmers and procuring seeds were sponsored by Assam Rifles, added the statement.

Many other villagers of surrounding areas have also keen interest in launching such projects in their areas, added the PIB (DW) statement.
