Imphal, August 18: The 60th Independence Day was celebrated at Namkaolong village under Nungba sub-division jointly by A Coy of 14 Mahar Regiment and the local people on August 15, informed a press release issued by Namkaolong Village Authority.

Hoisting of the National Flag, volleyball championship, march past and cultural programmes were the main features of the celebration, added the release.

The Independence Day was also celebrated at Sajik Tampak, Chandel, Moltuk, Tengnoupal and Moreh under respective command units of the Hqs 26 Sector AR under Hqs IG AR (S) together with the local people, informed AR PRO in a press release.

Hoisting of the tricolour was the main feature of the Independence Day celebration in all the venues.
