Imphal, August 10 2009:
Troops of 29 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) claimed to have apprehended three Myanmarese nationals on NH -39 near Sita Junction on Sunday, a statement of the IGAR (S) stated.
At around 10 pm, while checking the vehicles at a mobile check post, the troops noticed four persons sitting suspiciously inside the van.
On questioning, the individuals were found to be Myanmarese Nationals and were immediately apprehended, the release stated.
They had crossed into Myanmar via Moreh.
The apprehendees were identified as Afzal (23) son of Moodgah, resident of Tantar, (Myanmar); Hadayatullah, (25) son of Twhir, resident of Kantha Kono, (Myanmar); Ali, (23) son of Hatim, resident of Okkan PO/PS Okkam Rangoon (Myanmar) and Usmaan Gani, (25) son of Yusuf resident of Manawtukha Road (Myanmar).
Indian currency worth Rs.11,304, five Identity Cards (Gujarat/Manipur), one Mobile set and daily use items were recovered from the apprehendees.
The apprehendees along with recovered items have been handed over to Imphal West Police Station on Monday, it stated.
