Imphal, January 28 2010: Commemorating the 60th Republic Day, 17 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR (S) lighted up village of Tusom CV by installing five sets of solar lighting devices on January 25 .

According to a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles, Tusom CV Village is one of the remote villages in the northern part of Ukhrul district, in close proximity to the Indo-Myanmar border.

There ius no electricity available in the village and as such the villagers have been facing considerable hardships.

Earlier on January 18, IGAR (S) Major Gen CA Krishnan on his visit to Awangkasom post of 17 Assam Rifles donated these solar lights to Village Tusom CV to commemorate the upcoming 175th raising day of Assam Rifles on March 24 .
