Imphal, April 01 2011: A house belonging to one Lunkholam Haokip s/o late Thangpao Haokip located at Thingphai village along Myanmar border under Chakpikarong sub-division of Chandel district was completely reduced to cinders by wild fire at about 9.30 am of March 26 .

According to a press release issued by Thingphai village chief Henkhongam Haokip, properties worth Rs three lakhs were destroyed by the inferno.

Lamenting that the wild fire could have been controlled if there was a water reservoir tank in the village, the village appealed to the Government for construction of a water reservoir tank and extension of necessary relief assistance to the homeless family.
