Against the unhealthy trend of depending on import from beyond the outside for every consumer item including food products, the M/S Kangla Food Products is taking the initiative to produce home-made food products within the State.
As of now, the enterprising agro-based processing unit is able to introduce 22 new different food items.
The unit based Nambol Chingmang, Phoijing is giving employment to 60 persons in different sectors like 20 girls in packaging, 8 in processing, 2 in management and 30 as whole sellers and marketing agents.
The unit was established in 2004 under REGP of Khadi and Village Industries Commission and is able to produce 35 different snacks and other edible items, said its proprietor A Birendra.
Its list products include potato chips, banana chips, garlic mixture, leima kabok and many others.
Birendra informed that more than 1000 dozens of these items are sold in different parts of the state.
The registered M/S Kangla Food Products was granted no objection certificate by Pollution Control Board and has no other franchise, he said while appealing to all concerned not to use its brand name.
