Imphal, May 26: Thoubal District Medical Department Employees' Association has refuted that allegation of financial irregularities by CMO of Thoubal in payment of salaries to employees as totally baseless and concocted.

Reacting a news report appeared in this daily, Association general secretary S Mangoljao Singh in a statement asserted that the CMO has nothing to do with opening of the bank account of the employees.

The Association clarified that in accordance to a Government order, employees working under CMO Thoubal started opening their account in the SBI Thoubal Branch to ensure smooth withdrawal of their salary.

Though Rs 1000 was required to be deposited earlier for opening the bank account, latter on the employees were allowed to deposit only Rs 500.The excess amount of Rs 500 has also been refunded to the employees concerned except for those who could come to collect the same for themselves.

Moreover, as SBI Thoubal Branch could not disburse the salaries of the employees even after the pay bills have been submitted, all the employees in the district are withdrawing their salaries from the UBI Thoubal Branch, the Association statement added.
