Imphal, May 21: Following threats by a UG group to shut down office if it cannot entertain their monetary demand, the Imphal office of the Life Insurance Corporation has been closed since today.

It is reported that a particular UG group had asked the office to give them Rs 20 lakhs last week.

Consequent upon the sudden closure of the office, many people who came to the office to pay their premiums and other purposes had to turn back disappointed.

On the other hand, efforts to contact senior officers of the LIC office proved futile.
