Imphal, February 18, 2010: The Shumang Leela festival which was suspended for the day will go on as usual from tomorrow as per scheduled.

The festival was decided to suspend for two day (today and tomorrow) considering the proposed statewide general strike which are scheduled to imposed for two day beginning from today by a civil body.

The leela "Ashira Imphal" of Panthoibi Jatra Association which was scheduled to stage today will be staged on February 23.There will be no changes in the scheduled programme to other leela, vice chairman, Warepa Naba of the festival committee told reporters here in a hurriedly called press conference today.

The leela festival which was begun from February 3 last was organised by the State Shumang Leela Council.

Speaking to media persons at the office of the council, Naba said, earlier the festival committee decided to suspend staging of leela due to the sudden imposition of 36-hour general strike but they took the decision to resume the same from tomorrow as the purpose general strike had been call off.
