Imphal, May 17: Distress calls have been aired drawing attention of officials concerned to address the pitiable conditions of five Ashram schools established in the hill districts under the patronage of Tribal Development Department.

According to a source, the Department sanctioned Ashram Schools were set up in Noney and Tousem of Tamenglong district, Maram and Shingba Khullen in Senapati and Langol of Chandel.

However, setting up of these institutions have been reduced to mere formalities as basic amenities like furniture, buildings and writing material are not provided from any Government source.
