Imphal, August 16: Intensifying its agitation against the State Government's silence over various pending demands, All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) has decided to call a 12-hour general strike from 6 am to 6 pm of August 20.As done before, educational institutions will be beyond the purview of the general strike, assistant general secretary of ATSUM Apao Haokip said in a statement.

Further, he announced that after the general strike, total economic blockade on all highways of the State will follow immediately, in case the Government fails to give a positive response to the demands.

Other forms of agitation taken up as prelude to this including boycott of Government institutions and establishments will still go on as it is, he added.
