Imphal, August 29: Oinam Binodkumar and Oinam Subash of Chingmei Makha Leikai died due to excessive torture by PREPAK cadres, alleged Moirangthem Tomchou alias Chingkhong who managed to escape from PREPAK custody after he was picked up by PREPAK together with the two deceased.

Speaking to reporters at Imphal today, Chingkhong of Moirang Ngangkha Lawai disclosed that after they were picked up PREPAK cadres in the night of August 21, Subash, Binodkumar and himself were taken to an isolated farmhouse after travelling on a boat for about 15 minutes from Ithai Wapokpi.

At around 1 pm of August 22, he saw some PREPAK cadres led by one L/Cpl UP alias Inaoba torturing to death Binodkumar and Subash by smearing chillies (U-Morok) in the eyes, private parts and mouth.

While informing about the death of Subash and Binodkumar to someone on a mobile phone, UP alias Inaoba was heard instructed to kill him too, Chingkhong conveyed.

Faced with death, Chingkhong alias Tomchou mustered all his courage and grabbed an AK-rifle from the two kept in the farm house.

He then fired some rounds towards Inaoba and ran for his life, Chingkhong recounted.

Contending that it is impossible for Binodkumar who grew up by lake side to get drowned, Chingkhong disclosed that their captors first identified themselves as KYKL cadres and again claimed themselves as UNLF cadres on the next day.

Repeated pleading of the two deceased to the captors to stop torturing them fell into deaf ears, Chingkhong said.

Appealing to all concerned not to harass his family, Chingkhong alias Tomchou said that he is prepared for any punishment if he is found guilty.

However, he said that he wants justice and that he will not surrender to any body until the truth is established.

On the contrary, the proscribed PREPAK had claimed that they did not torture Binodkumar and Subash and they did not harbour any intention to kill them.

Their death resulted after Chingkhong snatched weapon from Inaoba and killed the PREPAK lance corporal while fleeing away.
