Imphal, November 28 2010: Prizes to winners of various categories in the State Level Healthy Baby and Best Mother Competition were distributed at a simple function hosted today by Family Welfare Services at the office complex of Directorate of Family Welfare Services.

Cash prize of Rs 5000 along with certificates were awarded to winners in the Healthy baby competition followed by Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 respectively for the second and third prize winners.

In the 6-11 month category, Mutum Nikson s/o Baby of Bishnupur was declared the healthiest baby with the next two positions going to Th Dhanakumar s/o Th Binita of Thoubal and N Gaurav s/o Janapriya of Imphal West.

While Th Avinash s/o Th suchitra of Imphal West bagged the top prize in the 12-23 month category, Halparmavi Rebecca d/o Alice of Churachandpur and Th Yohenba s/o Th Roma of Thoubal bagged second and third prizes.

Among competitors in the 24-36 month group Yoiren Shaiza s/o Wonechingla of Ukhrul was declared the winner followed by Ngariyanbam Aushu s/o Priti of Imphal West and LS Dknimso s/o Daisay of Ukhrul in the second and third position respectively.

In the best mother competition, Thongam Binata of Thoubal claimed the top prize of Rs 2000 as Mutum Baby of Bishnupur and LS Dknimso of Ukhrul were adjudged runner-up and third position winners respectively.

Consolation prizes of Rs 200 each were also presented to all the participants.

The prize distribution programme was held with Director (State Health Society) PK Jha and Director (Family Welfare) Dr L Joykumar Singh as the chief guest and president respectively with Director (Health Services) Dr S Ibomcha and president of Indian Academy of Paediatrics (Manipur) Dr A Naranbabu Singh gracing the occasion as the guests of honour.

President the key-note address, Additional Director (Family Welfare) Dr W Gulapi informed that owing to unavoidable circumstance the competitions could not held on November 14 like in the past many years.

Stating that healthy baby competition is being conducted under a specific policy of the Government to promote health and care of babies from the early stage of life, he also conveyed that after competitions at the district level the same was held today at the State level.

Other dignitaries who spoke on the occasion prevailed upon the parents on the need for periodical consultation with subject expert to be equipped with the knowledge of nutrition and overall health of children.
