The case filed against extension of the tenure of MPP president Dr L Chandramani for six months is being forced to withdraw under duress.
According to a statement issued by former vice-president of the MPP Huidrom Indramani who is a petitioner of the case, the petitioners have been threatened to withdraw the case.
Dr Chandramani was appointed adhoc president of MPP by the party central committee headed by the then party president Borajao on September 18 last year.
Dr Chandramani's presidentship was also approved by the party delegates' conference constituted in 2005.The tenure of Dr Chandramani was extended for six months by the party central committee one day ahead of the date (September 24 this year) when his term was due to lapse.
Even if the presidentship of Dr Chandramani should be extended, due approval should be sought from the delegates' conference which has its term till next year, observed the petitioner.
The extension of Dr Chandramani's tenure was prohibited by Court for the same exercise and the act of convening a special session of the Kendra Committee Delegates were against the constitution of MPP, he asserted.
Following the petition filed by former vice-president H Indramani, delegates members Th Nandakumar and U Ritam alias Litam, Civil Judge (Junior Division) Imphal freezed all the administrative and financial powers of the MPP president.
