After a bomb was exploded and a few rounds fired in Namphalong yesterday in which four persons sustained injuries, a Myanmarese citizen was shot dead at the Indo-Myanmar border today morning.
The deceased is identified as Khainthu s/o Nyo Yi.
Following the incident of bomb explosion yesterday, the Indo-Myanmar border has already been sealed and security personnel kept on alert.
The Namphalong Bazar also remained closed today.
According to information received by the press, the two Indian citizens who sustained injuries in yesterday's blast were shifted to Kalemyo after giving them treatment at Tamu as their conditions were critical.
The two victims are identified as Ramu Chhetry (21) s/o Birbal Chhetry and Soibam Abung alias Apum Singh.
Both of them belong to Moreh ward no 7. While Ramu suffered injuries in atleast five areas of the body Abung got hut in the buttock, abdomen and thigh portions.
Moreover, six women and a child sustained minor injuries in the bomb blast.
They were discharged after treatment at Tamu hospital While the Myanmarese authority and army have been speculating that the bomb was exploded by Indian citizens at Namphalong bazar yesterday, the killing of a Myanmarese citizen today morning has further aggravated the situation.
Consequently, Myanmar authorities sealed the border with India as a precautionary measure.
On both sides of the border, Indian and Myanmarese security personnel have intensified patrolling and have taken up measures to restore normalcy in the border area.
Some individuals alleged that the Myanmarese citizen was shot dead in firing from the Indian side.
However, CO-in-charge of 24 AR , when contacted over phone, denied the assumption saying that the Indian army did not fire a single shot today morning.
