The agitation launched by the JAC formed in connection with the killing of four persons including two innocent persons by personnel of 32 Assam Rifles at Nungei Loubuk under Lilong Police Station early morning yesterday has been suspended for three days and the bodies taken.
The two slain victims whom the JAC claimed as innocent persons are identified as Laishram Santosh (25) of Kiyam Siphai Heibong Makhong Leirak and Thingujam Chanchan (22) of Kiyam Makha Leikai.
The JAC held talks with the Chief Minister today and pressed for instituting a judicial inquiry and payment of ex-gratia among other demands.
During the course of the talks, CM prevailed upon the JAC representatives to take back the bodies with the assurance that ex-gratia would be paid before performance of the Shradha ceremony and a magisterial inquiry would be instituted to probe into the incident if the two persons were found to be innocent.
For this The Chief Minister asked the JAC to give few days time for checking the record whether the two innocent persons have any sort of connection with the underground outfits or not.
As an outcome of the meeting, the JAC agreed to take back the bodies and suspend the agitation with effect from 6 pm.
It has also been agreed to hold the next round of talks between the JAC and the Chief Minister on April 29 at 8 am.
Meanwhile, the bodies of Aribam Trishul of Kiyamgei Heibong Makhong and Md Lukman of Thoubal Moijing who were also killed in the incident have also been taken after post-mortem conducted on them today.
On the other hand, the body of one Md Sirajuddin of Lou Tara who was lynched to death while trying to steal a vehicle from Lilong Bazar on April 24 too has also been handed over to his family members after post-mortem conducted on it.
