In all 100 youths from different parts of the State are participating in the camp during which many resource persons would be imparting knowledge to the campers on various aspects of being a leader.
On the aim and objective of organising the camp, general secretary of SEDO E Vishwanath said it is to instill the spirit of patriotism, nationalism and discipline among the youths who are the future of the society.
Initially, SEDO organised the camp at the district level but it is being organised at the State level since last year along with the co-operation of ATDUCO.
Speaking at the inaugural function, AMUCO president R Yangsosong Koireng said that Manipur has lost its integrity, development and peace after 1949.Inspite of the efforts being made to protect and safeguard the cultural heritage by the people, Manipur has remained in a state of chaos as the so-called leaders that emerged after 1949 do not possess the required leadership qualities and miserably failed in their duties.
To save Manipur from disintegration, AMUCO has been launching a State-wide campaign in association with various other social organisations for all round development and usher in peace, he said, adding that outside forces like religious influences, alien cultures among others have been posing a serious threat on the unity and integrity of Manipur.
At one time it was the Hindu religious fanatics that used to spit out venom among the people, not it is the Government agencies and capitalists that are trying to set one group of people against one another.
All these would not possible, if we have the right to govern ourselves, Yangsosong maintained.
On development, he observed that development of some infrastructures is only in the interested of a handful of moneyed class.
The move being made by the Government to expand MU, RIMS, JN Hospital, Airport and establishment NIT all in the name of development would only lead to shrinking of the agricultural land after some years.
Why can't the developmental activities be taken up in the hill districts as well?, he questioned.
Peace would come automatically once we are able to bring about unity and development, he noted.
He also observed that the ceasefire agreement signed by the Government of India with some of the underground outfits seems to act like a ploy to encourage fratricidal killing.
