Ex-AMSU President, Bishnupur still not traceable

Imphal, February 20, 2010: Former president of AMSU Bishnupur district branch Robindro who was picked up by suspected security personnel cannot be traced till date.

Pleading to find out the whereabouts of Robindro, womenfolk of Nambol Kha-Jiri Maning Leikai staged a protest demonstration near Nambol police station today too.

Sairom Robindro (25) of Nambol Kha-Jiri Maning Leikai was picked up from his home by unidentified persons in the midnight of February 18. Earlier, a public meeting was held at Nambol Kha-Jiri where it was resolved to constitute a joint action committee.

The meeting also decided to appeal to all concerned to release Robindro without any condition by 4 pm tomorrow.

It also resolved to call a State-wide bandh in case Robindro is not released by tomorrow.

After the meeting, the local people marched towards Nambol police station located at Nambol Chingmang.

There, they staged a protest demonstration against the ghost arrest.

Police also fired tear gas shells in a bid to control the crowd from becoming rowdy.
