While touching on various issues, Power Minister Francis Ngajokpa has appealed to all concerned for proper utilisation of development fund and material provided by the Government.
Inaugurating a village community hall at Makhan Centre today which was constructed under the funding of 'Infrastructure Development in the Hills', the Minister disclosed that Rs 75 lakh each under the said scheme have been sanctioned to every MLA representing hill district constituencies.
Reminding that only proper and purposeful utilisation of development funds by the people's representatives could lift the socio-economic condition of the masses, Francis also emphasised that the public not only have to ensure productive use of infrastructure extended by the Govt but need to shoulder responsible to protect public properties.
He also observed that with today's youth more inclined towards leisure activities and indulgence in intoxicating substances the youthful zeal of protecting one's own property had been gradually declining.
Acknowledging concerns of parents that had constrained them (parents) to send their wards outside Manipur for studies owing to unfavourable law and order situation here, the Minister grimly noted rising cases of many youngsters staying outside attracted more to pleasure activities than striving for excellence in education.
The former Education Minister also called upon the student community to opt for assisting their parents at home if their sojourn outside Manipur is going to be wasteful.
The newly built community hall is said to have cost Rs 4 lakh with eight such constructions earmarked in Tadubi AC represented by Francis.
After similar construction at Willong village which consumed around Rs 8 lakhs, the Tadubi community hall is informed to be the second within the assembly constituency.
During the programme in which Mao-Maram SDO Ashokkumar was the guest of honour, 100 quintal of rice, 100 chairs, sports materials and Rs 1500 worth of woolen yarn were distributed to the locals by the Power Minister.
