Imphal, Jul 18:
Though the State has geared up eviction drive along the road-sides of Imphal, encroachment on the Kalibari road located in the heart of the capital city and creating public nuisance by the commercial building maintained by the Devalaya Committee remains unnoticed.
Thangal Bazar denizens in general and those residing around the complex in particular complained that besides the State's failure to repair the road for years, parts of the same have been encroached upon by the Kalibari authorities by erecting illegal pillars in rows beneath the three sides of the complex.
This has consistently narrowed the road in addition to giving obstruction to the road users, they said.
Moreover, since the Kitchen outlet of the building complex has not been connected directly with the drain, the Kitchen waste including rice, dal and other residues of meals are directly flushed out at the middle of the road causing both health hazard and deep annoyance to the public.
On the other hand, the ground floor of the commercial complex and other areas are being used as transport godowns as a result of which transport vehicles frequently park along this route to unload goods giving another traffic nuisance, they complained.
Verbal complaints to the Devalaya Committee to address the woes of the people too have remain unheeded, the residents rued, while urging the State authorities to take proper legal action against the Committee.
Over and above this, the Kalibari road that connects Majorkhul and Thangal Bazar has not been maintaining by the State, the residents said, while drawing the attention of the State authorities to do the needful.
