Imphal, March 18 2010: Locals of Sega Road Imphal today blocked the Tidim Road (Imphal-Churachandpur section of NH-150) in protest against the killing of a youth of the locality in alleged "fake encounter" on Monday last.

Even though the police dispersed them from blocking the road, locals marched a torch rally to register strong protest against the alleged fake encounter killing.

The local Joint Action Committee formed yesterday in connection with the killing is demanding inquiry into the killing of the youth.

A youth by the name Khumbongmayum Orshonjit (19), son of Kh Ibo of Sega Road Jailer Road was killed by Imphal west police commandos in what they claimed in encounter in the afternoon of March 16 at Taothong under Lamshang police station of Imphal west district.

They also claimed recovery of a .32 pistol loaded with two live rounds along with an Activa Honda (MN01M-8382) from the possession of the youth suspected to be an underground activist.

A spokesperson of the JAC today said that Orshonjit was a fuel supplier of Tata Indicom mobile operator and he was picked up on his way to repair his Activa Honda at a workshop on last Monday before shooting to dead.

"His (Orshonjit) dead body was found at RIMS morgue when the family was running post to pillar to police asking his whereabouts when they were informed of picking up him by a team of police commandos," he said.

He further said that they will go on with the agitation without receiving the dead body unless government inquire into the killing and deliver justice to the people.

Manipur Police commandos killing "innocent" youth in whatever the manner they like, he lamented blaming that they are the violator of rights to life of the people of the state.

The protest of residents of Sega Road was amidst the continue protest of villagers of Sekmaijin over the killing of a youth of the village by a combined force of Thoubal police commandos and troops of 21 Assam Rifles.

A 24 year-old youth identified as Chongtham Nanao alias Sanjay, son of Ch Iboyai, residing at Sekmaijin Maning Leikai under Kakching Police Station in Thoubal district, who was allegedly arrested by a combined team of Thoubal district police commandos and 21 AR was killed later in "encounter".

Villagers have been blocking the Mayai Lambi Road, an inter-district road connecting major portion of Thoubal district with Imphal for the last two consecutive days pressing the government to conduct inquiry and punishment to the security personnel involved in the killing of villager youth.

None of the civil organisations including the Apunba Lup who inked with the government to conduct inquiry into killing of people by security forces if any controversy arises are still remaining silent.

It can be recalled that the four months marathon agitation on July 23, 2009 incident that killed a former militant, Ch Sanjit and a housewife Th Rabina was ended with the agreement to look into all cases of complaints in any of the CI operations with due promptitude among others on January 8, 2010 .
