A one-day political conference of the Kakching District Congress Committee was held at Ching-Tam Community hall, Sugnu Bazar today.
Inaugurating the conference, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh said though the SPF Government was not able to pay much attention to the developmental activities during the first three months due to financial constraints, the situation has been different with the coming of UPA Government at the Centre.
Now the financial position of the State has improved, he said, adding that upto 95 percent of the allocated Plan amount has been utilised for the development of the State in the last financial year.
Describing the Mayang-Imphal-Sugnu Road as an important State Highway of the three districts, the Chief Minister informed that necessary instruction have been given to the Works Minister and other related officials to complete the Chakpi Bailey bridge being constructed over Manipur River within the next 2/3 months.
Outlining the need for setting up a Voluntary Confidential Counselling Centre at Sugnu, Ibobi also appealed to the people for taking up precautionary measures from getting infected with HIV/AIDS.
Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam who also addressed the conference, asserted only Congress could provide a stable Govt for all around development of the people.
Hence, he called upon all th people to elect Congress candidates in the forth-coming 9th Assembly election.
Sugnu A/C MLA and PDA Chairman K Ranjit maintained that SPF Government has made many notable achievements which were not thinkable 10/20 years back.
Assam Rifles has been removed from Kangla, Capitol Project has been taken up and Railway line would be extended to Imphal, AFSPA removed from seven Assembly segment, he listed.
Ultimately, AFSPA should be removed from whole of Manipur, he added.
