Imphal, November 14 2008: A Rifleman of the IRB who was reportedly extorting money from the people of Nagamapal area in the name of the proscribed PREPAK was rounded up and handed over to the police by the local people this evening.

The accused IRB personnel who has been handed over to the police custody has been identified as Namaram Premjit Meetei (33) s/o Ito of Khurai Nandeibam Leikai.

According to report, he was rounded up by the local people while coming to collect money in the name of PREPAK from Diamond Chicken Centre at Nagamapal today evening.

Two identity cards of Ist IRB (11th MR) have been seized from his possession.

One of the identity cards is issued by the Commandant and the other by IGP (Intelligence).

However, both the identity cards have already expired in 2006 .

After a team of Imphal East Police Commandos came across him while being rounded up by the local people, he was taken into their custody.

According to the report, the accused IRB personnel is also suspected to be a drug addict.
