Imphal, July 10: Volunteers of Manipur Forward Youth Front (MAFYF) have pulled up a 30-year old woman who allegedly collected money from innocent and gullible women vendors of Khwairamband Bazar on false promises of providing them with loan.

The alleged swindler rounded up by MAFYF volunteers has been identified as Aheibam Indubala (30) d/o Aheibam Sarat of Khaidem Makha Leikai.

Addressing a press conference in this connection at the office of MAFYF this afternoon, Front secretary in-charge Premjit Kshetrimayum said Indubala had fraudulently collected a sum of Rs 18,000 from the innocent women vendors of Khwairamband Bazar on false promises of providing loan under some schemes of UBI since June 25.On receiving the complaint, MAFYF volunteers have been laying in wait to pull her up and finally she was rounded up from Sagolband Bijoygovinda area at around 10 am today while she was coming to dupe some more innocent people.

During the course of interrogation, Indubala has disclosed besides the amount collected from the women vendors, she had also swindled Rs 5,500 from one Rahaman of Kshetrigaon Awang Leikai on false promise of providing a loan amount of Rs 2 lakhs from the bank, Rs 5,500 from Alibjan of Kshetrigaon, Rs 1,600 from Yumnam Ongbi Ibemcha of Sagolband Bijoygovinda, Rs 3000 from RK Ongbi Shakuntala of the same locality and Rs 2,500 from Maibam Chaoba Devi of Uripok.

Indubala further disclosed the names of two of her accomplices as Sanatombi (30) w/o Apujam Jiten of Moidangpok and Elangbam Ranjit of Thoubal Kshetri Leikai .

MAFYF has asked the two accomplices to surrender within five days and warned that they themselves should be held responsible for any eventuality if they fail to surrender.

Indubala has also been directed to return the money she had collected from the women vendors of Khwairamband Bazar within July 28.In view of such swindling cases, MAFYF has also appealed to all concerned to carry authenticated documents and identity cards when they go out looking for their clients.
