Imphal, Aug 07:
In its continuing agitation to close Govt offices, Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has sealed many more offices today besides confiscating a large number of official files and documents.
A statement issued by MSF informed that its volunteers have sealed offices of BDO Sawombung, CDPO Sawombung, SDO Sawombung, PHED Sangakpham in Imphal East and many official files have also been seized from these offices.
In Imphal West, Census Office Yumnam Leikai, Office of Registrar Co-operative Society Lamphel, SDC Hiyangthang and SCERT Office were closed down today after confiscating files and documents of these offices, disclosed the statement.
In Thoubal district, many more files were seized from Sericulture office, SSA Office Wangbal, Fishery Office Wangbal, SDC Office Thoubal, Registrar Office Thoubal, IFCD Office, PWD Office Thoubal, Horticulture and Soil Conservation Dept , Employment Exchange office and SDC Office Heirok.
In Bishnupur district too, many State offices have been closed by MSF after snatching a number of files and documents.
The drive to close down Govt offices is the initial step of MSF to wake up the State Govt which is sleeping over the plight of the students.
The ongoing agitation is directed to make the State Govt accountable for the welfare of the student community, noted the statement.
Observing that many of the State officials of the Edu Dept often maintain that the failure to bring about quality education and follow academic calendar is because of the disturbances caused by many sections of the public, it questioned the State if the denial of education to aided college students for 45 days is another secretive policy conceived by the State Govt to impart quality education to the students.
The statement alleged that the indifference of the State Govt to the plight of the aided college students is a ploy to create a line of division among the students of Manipur.
Noting that the hapless students of aided colleges who have been denied regular class for the last 45 days would be asked the same set of questions in the exams conducted by MU as those students who are given regular classes, MSF clarified that its ongoing agitation is not an exercise to show its strength nor an attempt to intrude into the administration of the State.
Appealing to the Govt to ensure the right to education of the aided college students, it warned of agitation if the hapless students are being denied their rights.
