Imphal, December 05 2010: President of Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) Y Mani has asserted that relevant process would be initiated to reclaim the Party office at Nityaipat Chuthek (near Thoubal Parking) from the BJP.

Speaking on the occasion of the MSCP's 13th foundation anniversary celebration held today at Yumnam Huidrom Heinou Makhong community hall under Wangoi Assembly constituency, the party chief asserted that a recent court ruling has rejected petition filed by the BJP wherein the saffron party claimed merger of MSCP and BJP.

A former Minister himself, Y Mani opined that with the said Court rejecting the BJP contention the Nityaipat Chuthek plot technically belongs to the MSCP for which necessary legal procedures along with a formal complaint to the Government will be taken up to evict BJP from the same site.

Without taking names he also blamed some former MSCP leaders with vested interest for the decline of the regional political organisation's setup and cadre strength but hastened to add that MSCP's popularity and importance has grown in the past few years with many expressing willingness to work for the Party as well as contest the forthcoming general elections.

Observing that no political party could gain absolute majority on its own when elections to the 6th State assembly is conducted, he exuded confidence that the MSCP will tie-up or seek support from like-minded political organisation/s to form or be a part of the next Government as MSCP enjoys cordial relationships with all the political organisation, with the exception of BJP.

Reminding that MSCP was in power in the State some years back, Mani also explained his claim of being able to retain power by stating that it would field adequate number of candidates in both the hills and valley assembly segments with the ambition further boosted with some independent councillors of Autonomous District Councils likely to come to the MSCP fold.

The anniversary celebration was also attended and addressed by the party's political advisor Chadam manihar (ex-minister), Working President Kh Devbratta, and other top leaders and key functionaries.
