Imphal, May 04 2010: Terming the Manipur cabinet's decision of April 30 as 'most unfortunate' in connection with the visit of Th.Muivah, general secretary of the NSCN-IM, the People's Democratic Alliance (PDA), a political party in Manipur urged the Prime Minister of India to 'actively look into the matter so as to ensure safe and sound atmosphere within the state'.

The Manipur cabinet's decision against such visit and being given to understand the hectic efforts on the part of the state government of Manipur to ward-off or foil the said visit prompted the PDA to seek and convey the Prime Minister in that regard, pointed out the political party.

While welcoming the visit of Th.Muivah, general secretary of the NSCN-IM to his birth-place�Somdal village of Ukhrul district in Manipur, the PDA announced its 'pleasure in welcoming him and his entourage to his native soil after 40 years'.

The political party maintained that 'the august visit of Thuigaleng Muivah, general secretary of NSCN-IM to his birth place and to other Naga areas has been a long awaited hearty and emotional moments among the Naga populace in the state of Manipur and to witness the glimpses of happiness and mirth in the hearts and faces of his people'.

Appreciating on the ongoing peace parleys between GOI and NSCN, the PDA affirmed that the 'Indo-Naga peace process since the inception of ceasefire talks undertaken from 1997 till as of date has been in good stead of momentum'.

The PDA also wished that all the existing underground groups of the whole North-East region of India be solved through peaceful dialogues instead of opting for brute force of the army and the likes, saying by 'force has never earned appreciation from the civil populace throughout the world and more particularly in India which is a land of non-violence professed by Mahatma Gandhi, father of the nation'.

Meanwhile, the Rongmei Lu Phuam (RLP) Assam , Manipur and Nagaland, a Rongmei womens' organization on Tuesday denounced the Manipur cabinet's decision terming it as 'unfortunate decision to prevent Th.Muivah, the general secretary of NSCN from visiting his birth place'.

The Rongmei women body of the three states contended that 'preventing the core person of the Indo-Naga Talk from visiting his dear birth place-Somdal village in Ukhrul district of Manipur and other Naga districts in Manipur has been viewed as disrespecting the peace process of the Indo-Naga Talk'.

The body then proclaimed that "Peace is for all and co-peace existence is essential for human development and human societies" .

While supporting the tribal organisations' including United Naga Council (UNC), All Naga Students' Association Manipur (ANSAM), Naga Women Union Manipur (NWUM),Manipur Tribal JAC against election under unwanted district council Act and others demand for 'deferring the Autonomous District Council elections till the revision of the Manipur ADC Act 2008', the RLP urged the aspiring candidates to withdraw their nominations for the ADC elections, adding 'Manipur government ought to respect the due rights of the tribal peoples which are enshrined in the Constitution of India'.
