Imphal, June 03: A recitation session on MakipatOh Nungonbi, a poetry book written by Nomita Khongbantabam was organised by National Theatre and Literature Studies, which is the study forum of Ougree Theatre Repertory at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Sanglen, Palace Compound here today.

Former MLA Dr M Nara Singh and Professor of Manipur University Dr IS Kangjam graced the occasion as chief guest and president respectively.

In his address, Dr Nara said the poems read out by the Shumang Leela artistes gave a different taste and feeling to the poems and this shows the close relationship between the literature and the artistes.

In his presidential address, Prof IS Kangjam opined that more such discussion sessions organised in future to facilitate direct interaction between the writers and the readers.

Columnist Oinam Anand presented a critical appreciation of the book.

Many Shumang Leela artistes also read out selected poems from the same book.

Condoling the death of popular Shumang Leela Artist and comedian of Naharol Khongthang Artists Association (Chakthekpi Party) L Dhanabir, all those who were present at the occasion observed two minutes silence as mark of respect to the departed soul.

They also recalled his contrinution to the art form.
