Scripting history in blood donation in Manipur, as many as 300 CRPF personnel donated blood during a blood donation camp organised at the premises of 128 Bn of the force at Mongshangei today.
Inaugurating the camp organised to mark the force's 16 Raising Day, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, who inaugurated the camp lauded the donors for their will to serve the public.
Pointing out the difficulties being faced by the poor and the needy patients in procuring blood, Ibobi said the huge quantity of blood donated by the personnel would help such patients.
PR Jambholkar , CO of 128 BN CRPF who also spoke at the occasion said the voluntary blood donation camp was organized to display the noble cause of saving precious human lives which otherwise would perish due to scarcity of blood in the blood banks.

The blood camp broke all the records in the history of Manipur as no organization till date has donated such a huge quantity of blood in a single day.
Second-in-Command of the Bn DT Banerjee was also among the 285 personnel who donated their blood during the camp.
The State Blood Transfusion Unit sponsored the camp by way of providing refreshments to the donors.
To enhance and improve the police-public relations, the CRPF battalion under its civic action programme, has been providing assistance to the public through distributing of syntax tanks and sports items, etc and construction of community halls.
In 2006, a blood donation camp had also been organized wherein 163 unit personnel donated their blood.
The commandant said the force is assigned the responsibilities of guarding the vital installations like Raj Bhavan, Chief Minister's bungalow, Doordarshan Kendra, All India Radio, Central jails and residences of various other dignitaries.
The same was also actively involved in the recent 9th State Assembly elections.
Inspector General of CRPF SK Jain said the voluntary HIV testing by the CRPF personnel in the State is underway in full pace.
Those who were found positive are undergoing Anti Retroviral Therapy (ART).
MLA Irengbam Hemochandra , Project Director of Manipur AIDS Control Society Dr Pramod and Superintendent of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) were also present at the occasion.
