Imphal, March 27:
Arson, atrocities and other criminal activities continue to haunt the Meiteis of Barak circle.
Even as the ashes of the burnt houses and killing of people have not yet cooled down in Harinagar village of Barak circle, another house belonging to one Oinam Sellungba was set on fire at around 11 pm of March 24, informed a statement issued by the All Meitei Development Association, Barak Area.
Even though the State Government is fully aware of all the particulars of these anti-social elements and of their nefarious designs, it still remains mute spectator to all the atrocities committed specifically against the Meitei community, it alleged.
Moreover, an armed gang vandalised the house of Achoibam Kunjamani before looting other valuables in addition to Rs 15,000 in cash.
It mentioned that all these houses are located in the immediate neighbourhood of the houses belonging to other communities which are left untouched.
Even when the people are still unable to come to terms with the previous scathing attacks, new and fresh crimes are deliberately perpetrated against this particular community which pose a serious threat to all the Meitei settlements in Barak circle, it informed.
The Association opined that such reign of terror remains uncontrollable because of the small number of State forces deployed in the area.
It appealed to the State Government to station sufficient number of State forces not less than a battalion in this area apart from a police station manned by adequate number of policemen.
