Governor Dr SS Sidhu and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh have greeted the people of Manipur on the joyous and auspicious occasion of Yaoshang festival.
In his message, the Governor said festival of colour Yaoshang has arrived once again with the onset of spring marking rekindling of spirit of life.
Celebrated with gaiety and enthusiasm, the festival makes us forget our differences and spreads the message of love, friendship and harmony cutting across the barriers of caste, creed and religion and the edifice of oneness gets strengthened, he said.
On this auspicious occasion let all of us pledge to work together for maintaining peace, communal harmony, brotherhood and friendship in Manipur society, the Governor exhorted, adding that the this is the need of the hour and what the society calls for today.
In his message, Chief Minister said Yaoshang is the principal festival of Manipur, a festival of joy and reconciliation.
The festival offers an opportunity for all of us to set aside our differences and to come together to rejoice life.
Chief Minister hoped that Yaoshang would spread the message of love, peace, unity and prosperity for all.
IG Assam Rifles (South), Major Gen BS Ghotra has also conveyed his heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Yaoshang.
