Imphal, January 03: Protesting the prolonged negligence of the people of Tamenglong district and the rampant corruption indulged by the State officials in the district including the cases of bill withdrawal without undertaking the prescribed works, the people of the district have launched a general strike today, informed a statement jointly issued by the vice-president of VACC, Thuanmomg Gangmei, president of ZWU, Aniliu Gangmei, chairman of ZYF/Tml, Gaingaklung Kamei and co-ordinator of ZSUTD, Taluiyang Kamei.

It sought clarification on the fraudulent withdrawal of bills pertaining to construction of Mini Secretariat at Tamenglong HQs, three residential quarters of SDO and SDC offices at Tamei amounting to 65 lakhs without undertaking the works.

They also demanded immediate termination of the officials responsible for these works, SE Irabot and AE N Gunadhaja.
