Ringing out the message and unity, the two-day long 35th Glory Day celebration of Model English School, Sinakeithei which was marked by various programmes and competitions concluded today.
Development Officer of LIC Imphal Branch Gideon Keishing hoisted the school flag as chief guest to inaugurate the annual of the school yesterday.
Situated at about 20 kms towards north-west from Mahadeva crossing along Imphal-Ukhrul Road, Sinakeithei is a small village inhabited by people of various communities like Nepali, Meitei, Tangkhul, Kuki, etc.
There is complete harmony among the people and their children are studying in the Model English School.
The composition of the teaching staff of the school also speak of the cohesive relation among the people living in the area.
Teachers belonging to different cultural backgrounds including three of them from South India are imparting knowledge to the students.
Speaking at the inaugural function of the Glory Day, Gideon Keishing said it is not just an happy day for the students and their parents but also for all people of various communities living in the area.
He also stressed on the role of parents in educating their children instead of just depending on the teachers.
Expressing concern over spread of HIV/AIDS epidemic in Ukhrul district, Keishing said there is an urgent need to educate even the young students in this regard.
School principal V Khamrang said that objective of organising Glory Day is to promote peace and harmony among the students and bring out their latent talents.
He also appreciated North Eastern Council for having provided five computers and two printers for the students so that computer knowledge and information technology could reach the people living in the remote hilly region.
